SUMMARY:Sycamore as a Biomass Source
DESCRIPTION:This webinar examines the use of American Sycamore as a purpose-grown feedstock for bioenergy. Participants will hear about the current research and learn about potential and ability of sycamore\, a native species that can serve as a biomass material with excellent growth potential\, in lieu of non-native plants. \nPresenter: John King\, PhD.\, Professor\, NC State University \nDr. John King is a forest ecophysiologist whose research interest is in assessing how the cycling and storage of carbon and water in forested ecosystems are influenced by climate variability\, management\, genetics\, and the interaction of biotic and abiotic stresses; effects of climate warming\, drought stress and sea-level rise on forest productivity and resilience to insects and other pests; potential productivity and sustainability of short-rotation woody cropping systems for bioenergy.

His museum career includes 20 years at Discovery Place Science Museum in Charlotte\, 3 years at Imagination Station Science museum in Wilson and now 19 years in his present position.
