This is the tenth year that Elk Knob has participated in the campout which introduces families to the joy of camping without the expense of buying equipment. DESCRIPTION:Prepare to get wet\, this free clinic is the second in a series of two designed to give anglers and paddlers the information and skills required to safely and successfully fish in sheltered waters from a kayak.  This clinic meets at the Lake Rim Boating Access area and features sessions with Commission staff and volunteers. Topics include: launching and landing\, paddle strokes\, anchoring\, and safety.  After the basics\, we will test our skills fishing for largemouth bass and panfish on Lake Rim. \nThis course is suitable for participants 16 years old and older. Participation in Introduction to Kayak Fishing Part 1 is required. A valid fishing license is required. Each clinic is limited to the first 6 people\, and preregistration is required. SUMMARY:Sustainable Forestry Teachers' Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Sustainable Forestry Teachers’ Experience is a multi-day residential professional development workshop that demonstrates all elements of forestry in North Carolina. This program is designed to educate teachers about forestry through presentations\, tours and hands-on lesson plans. Educators will receive training in Project Learning Tree\, an award-winning\, multi-disciplinary environmental education program that provides STEAM activities for preK-12th grade and is aligned to state and national academic standards. \nEducators of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those who are involved with a science curriculum or demonstrate that the subject matter is applicable to their students.

Susan Campbell is one of the few individuals worldwide who are licensed to handle Hummingbirds. \nThis program is weather permitting.
