Understanding both the forestry specific provisions and the general tax rules that affect your management activities can significantly reduce your overall tax liability through strategic planning. But tax planning becomes even more critical when a natural disaster strikes. Storms, wildfires, and other catastrophic events can damage or destroy timber, and the tax implications of that loss can be complex.
