Birding Hike

October 16, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Come join the NC Wildlife Resources Commission at Singletary Lake State Park as we discover a variety of bird species migrating into the pines and herbaceous habitats surrounding Elizabethtown. Fall migration is a beautiful spectacle to behold and a great time to learn warblers! We will explore the conservation challenges that face resident birds and migrants alike. Hands-on field experience will improve your birding skills as we learn identification tricks, songs, and behavioral cues together. All levels of experience are welcome!

Participants are eligible for 3 hours of Criteria II or III credit towards the NC OEE Environmental Education Certification, and school teachers receive 0.3 CEU credits.

This workshop will be entirely outdoors and we will still bird in a drizzle. Please wear closed-toed comfortable shoes, bring water and bug spray, as well as some sort of sun protection. Binoculars and field guides are encouraged and there will be a few pairs of binoculars participants can borrow.

For more information and to register please call the park office at 910-669-2928 or by email at singletary.lake@ncparks.gov.

Free lodging available for registered participants.
