Conference on Heirs’ Property and Sustainable Forest Management

October 6, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

This virtual conference will bring together experts in heirs’ property, including forest landowners experiencing it firsthand. We will share ideas and perspectives, provide updates on legal developments regarding heirs’ property, and present results from two integrated research and outreach initiatives.

Though the main focus is on African American forest landowners located in the southeastern states, in general, and Georgia, in particular, we will also discuss heirs’ property issues nationwide. Our goal is to share insights and information that can be distributed among our networks to better serve forest landowners grappling with heirs’ property and to better inform policymakers about the social complexities in which heirs’ property is embedded and its consequence for sustainable forestry.
