Get Hooked! Join a volunteer angler for an introductory class on fly fishing. Please bring all personal equipment. Classes may vary based on interest and skill level of the participants. North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission fishing regulations apply. Meet at the Visitor Center.
Join experienced and knowledgeable instructors for the day as they introduce you to the basics of fly-fishing on a local lake. Topics covered will include equipment, knots, casting techniques, and aquatic entomology. Equipment and materials provided. Must have completed Intro to Fly Fishing or have equivalent experience before taking this class. Ages 12 and up.
Join Ornithologist Susan Campbell Wednesday mornings at Weymouth Woods for a rare opportunity to see Hummingbirds up close. Susan Campbell is one of the few individuals worldwide who are licensed to handle Hummingbirds. This program is weather permitting. Call the park office prior to the event to confirm that banding is taking place.
The Wildlife Commission is accepting entries to its 14th annual Wildlife in North Carolina Photo Competition until 5 p.m. on Sept. 1. The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers of all ages. See the 2017 winning photographs here.
