Lupine-You-In: Frosted Elfin Conservation
Join NCWF Wildlife Habitat Stewards of Northeastern NC Chapter in welcoming Gabriela Garrison, Eastern Piedmont Habitat Conservation Coordinator for NC Wildlife Resources Commission, as she introduces us to frosted elfin butterfly conservation! The frosted elfin is a small, non-migratory butterfly that is seeing significant decline across most of its range. It is a habitat specialist that requires pine barrens, oak savannas, and fire-maintained landscapes. In this presentation, you will learn about key ecological aspects of this curious butterfly as well as current efforts underway to combat population loss. You will also learn how you can play a part in helping us learn more about its habitat preferences and where it occurs on the landscape.
